Amsterdam

Hello.

We're sitting in an Easy Internet Cafe just outside Amsterdam Central Station. We left Scotland on Monday morning at 4am, flew to Luton then Amsterdam airports where we got a train into the centre and checked in at our hostel. The hostel's alright, nothing too glamorous obviously, but it's quite clean and secure. We're in a room with 14 other people, 12 guys and 2 girls. Haven't really spoken to any of them yet as we've not been in the hostel for very long other than during the night.

Yesterday afternoon, we met up with Nicole Irvine who's "studying" here for three months. She showed us around a bit and we spent a bit of time at her flat yesterday where we met some of her other international flat mates. The weather is unbelievably hot. Last night at around 8pm, it was still 31oC, not complaining though. After sitting at Nicole's for a while, we went for a walk around Amsterdam's most famous district where we had a drink before going back to the hostel quite early since we were all so tired from the early morning and travelling.

Got up at around 10am this morning after a really warm night. We've been to the supermarket to get some food to make sandwiches with and ate them at the side of one of the (bogging) canals. Not much else planned for the rest of the day in Amsterdam, although we're hoping to go down one of the canals in a pedalo. We might go out to a club tonight or maybe just a few bars. We're going to Berlin tomorrow on either the 11.13am or 3.13pm train. It's about a 6 hour journey so we've bought some playing cards and I got a few badges to sew onto my rucksack on the train... how exciting.

That's about all really. Nothing's gone wrong yet and we're all having a good time. Speak to you from Germany!
